Diego Duchi

Associate Director, Compute Policy

Dr. Diego Duchi is Associate Director for Compute Policy at the Institute for AI Policy and Strategy (IAPS), where he oversees work on compute governance. 

Before joining IAPS, Diego was Head of AI Policy at His Majesty’s Treasury, advising the Chancellor of the Exchequer on policy issues at the intersection of economics, national security, and artificial intelligence. He played a central role in shaping the UK government’s approach to AI, including preparedness for the AI transition. His expertise spans the economics of AI, AI risk management, and compute governance. With over a decade of experience in government, working on cybersecurity, innovation policy, and international economic issues, he brings a deep understanding of policymaking within government and in multilateral settings. Diego holds three degrees from the University of Oxford, including a Master in Public Policy and a DPhil.
