Scope of Work: Digital Content and Strategy (Contract)

1. Objective & Purpose

The Digital Content and Strategy specialist will be responsible for digital content creation and multimedia design, to support the Institute for AI Policy and Strategy (IAPS). The primary objective is to translate policy-driven research focused on the transformational implications of advanced AI into highly engaging, visually crisp digital assets, including graphics, data visualizations, and social video.

The specialist must be at home with digital platforms and creative editing suites, such as Canva, Adobe, CapCut/equivalent. Interest in AI policy is preferred.

2. Core Deliverables & Monthly Cadence

The specialist will deliver the following outputs each month:

  • Digital assets for report launches and explainers.

  • Social-optimized graphics, including carousels.

  • Rapid-response visuals, including infographics, for time-sensitive memos and briefings.

  • Vertical videos, including script, edit, and delivery.

  • Creative input into digital platforms.

The specialist will also collaborate with the Communications Manager to provide the following inputs:

  • An audit of existing social channels, with recommendations for tailored content strategy.

  • A plan for platform expansion, laying the visual groundwork for new channels.

3. Retainer Structure & Financial Terms

Monthly Capacity: 60-65 hours per month

If a heavy publication cycle requires hours beyond the monthly allocation, the specialist must flag this to the Communications Manager for approval before proceeding.

Expenses: The specialist will be responsible for their own hardware, design software licenses, and standard commercial fonts and stock asset subscriptions. Any additional third-party expenses (e.g., premium stock assets, fonts, or specific software licenses outside the specialist’s standard toolkit) must be pre-approved in writing by IAPS to be reimbursed.

Communications & Workflow: To promote asynchronous coordination and communications, the specialist will be added to the organization’s Slack, email, and project tracking tools. They will also be required to attend meetings with the Communications Manager twice a month to sync on the upcoming pipeline, and the occasional project kick-off when digital will play a significant role. The role may entail occasional travel to capture images and video.

Logistics and Additional Information

  • Location: This role is remote in the US or the UK. We are not able to sponsor visas for this role. Please only apply if you have work authorization in the US or the UK. 

  • Hours: Approximately eight days per month (60-65 hours). 

  • Travel: Some travel may be required for project kick-offs when digital will play a significant role (approximately 1-2 weeks per calendar year). We ask that you only apply if you are able to meet the travel requirements for this position.
